Researcher
Jin Lee is a researcher at the Mind Computation Lab. She holds a B.Arch and an M.S. in Architecture, concentrating in Design Computation at Inha University, South Korea. Her research focuses on advancing interdisciplinary computational design methods that integrate architectural designs, AI technologies, and human factors, exploring unstructured and stochastic data coming from heterogeneous building users.
Lee's master's thesis investigated the impacts of reinforcement learning-powered agent-based simulation on architects' design trade-offs in designing children's learning environments. Her thesis won the First Prize at the 2023 Best Thesis Award from the Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK) and has been published in the international peer-reviewed conference and journal, eCAADe and Design Studies. The digital design application project she and her colleagues developed was awarded the Minister's Prize at the 2021 Digital Architectural Competition hosted by the AIK. Starting in the 2024 Fall, she will begin her Ph.D. study in Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley.
