Director / Professor
Seung Wan Hong serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Inha University, South Korea. He leads the Mind Computation Lab, a multidisciplinary research lab that explores the intersection of design computation, human behavior, artificial intelligence, and virtual environments. He primarily investigates the influence of new media on architectural design creativity. His research projects are funded by grants from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA). This works have been published in leading international journals such as Automation in Construction, Architectural Science Review, and Environment and Planning B.
Dr. Hong earned his Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, with minor specializations in design computation, new media-applied architectural design, and social psychology. He completed his M.Arch at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architecture at the University of Ulsan. Prior to his tenure at Inha University, he held positions as a Junior Specialist at the University of California, Berkeley, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
